Zenith Projection HDTV

This Zenith projection HDTV, the R40W46, is a 40in widescreen TV with a wealth of features. It supports HDTV signals from set-top boxes at 1080i and signals from progressive scan DVD players at 480p.

It can also up convert standard interlaced (480i composite and S-video) signals, which brings VCRs, regular (non progressive scan) DVD players, cable boxes, and other home entertainment kit up to 1080i or 480p resolution.

This Zenith projection HDTV also performs 3:2 pull-down which digitally corrects the distortion which occurs when, in the DVD mastering process, 24 frames per second movies are converted to 30 frames per second video, by removing the redundant information.

The Zenith's excellent optics improve brightness and focus and allow the cabinet depth to be as little as 17.9 inches. The TV uses something Zenith calls HD Focus to automatically adjust the picture from the center to the edge of the screen to make sure it's always pin sharp.

The R40W46 uses velocity-scan modulation to improve the definition at the edges of the picture, creating images which are sharper, by slowing the CRT beam's horizontal scanning during demanding work, for example, when rendering transitions from light areas of an image to dark areas, and speeding it up when scanning sections which can be rendered more easily. Dot pitch is a fine 0.52mm.

In addition to the 15 Watts per channel stereo audio, this Zenith projection HDTV has built-in Dolby Virtual Surround sound which simulates an all-encompassing envelope of surround sound from the sets two speakers. There are component video inputs as well as composite and S-video inputs and AV inputs on the front as well as the rear make it easy to hook-up a camcorder or games console quickly and easily.

Inside the box are the TV, remote control, batteries for the remote and a user's manual.
