Sony Bravia 32in LCD HDTv

This Sony Bravia 32in LCD HDTV, the snappily titled KLV-S32A10, has a native widescreen resolution of 1366 x768 pixels, a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a built-in NTSC tuner.

Like its baby brother, the KLV-S23A10, this Sony Bravia 32in LCD HDTV has integrated support for SRS TruSurround audio processing to give that surround sound ceinematic felling. In this case however, the speakers are more powerful – 2 x 10W speakers compared to 2 x 5W in the KLV-S23A10.

It has full support for 480i and 480p EDTV as well as 720p and 108i HDTV signals. It also has Sony's CineMotion 3:2 pulldown. This is a rather clever piece of technology which corrects the distortion which can occur when 24 frames-per-second movies are digitally mastered for 30 frames-per-second video. The net result is that you get to watch progressive scan movies as they were intended to be seen.

Other neat gizmos in this Sony Bravia 32in LCD HDTV include a Dynamic Picture Processor – a chip that shows more detail in very bright and very dark areas of an image than would otherwise be the case, and a 3D Y/C comb filter which, in English, is a gadget that gets rid of blurred edges between colors and reduces the instances of those distracting 'marching ants' that you see along lines where contrasting colours meet, such as on a striped T-shirt.

In terms of connections, the Sony KLV-S32A10 is fully-loaded. You can choose from HDMI, VGA, component, RF, S-Video and composite.

The WEGA GATE Easy Operation Guide allows you to easily navigate to the most often used TV functions such as favourite channels, TV channel list, external input list or settings. Favourite channel allows you to select from eight of your favourite channels.
