The latest Phillips HDTV range was launched by the company at the Consumer Electronics Show in January. The new range, which consists of four Phillips HDTV models, includes a 32in LCD, 42in LCD, a 42in plasma, and a 50in plasma.
All four of the new flat screen televisions feature integrated HDTV tuners and digital memory card readers for playing photo slideshows.
'Philips’ 2005 portfolio of FlatTVs gives consumers what they want - the best picture quality, the best designs and the ultimate, cinema-like viewing experiences with the added convenience of simple, wireless connectivity. This year, each of the 2005 models offer Streamium technology, allowing consumers to access and enjoy content whenever they want.' said Des Power, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Premier, Phillips Consumer Electronics, North America, at the launch.
The 42in LCD - the 42PF9830A, features an 802.11g wireless interface to enable users to stream video from a wireless equipped P. It also has a digital cable card slot which allows you, if your cable company supports it, to insert a card directly into the TV and view protected cable content without the need for a cable box.
The 32in LCD - the 32PF9630A, is the first Phillips HDTV to feature the company's proprietary, ClearLCD technology. According to Philips, ClearLCD 'is a unique technology that uses scanning and backlight dimming technology to create astounding images on an LCD screen with much greater motion clarity and contrast than ever before.'
The two plasma HDTVs, the 42in 42PF9630A, and the 50in 50PF9630A, feature Philips Pixel Plus 2 HD and Ambilight technologies. The company says 'Pixel Plus 2 HD technology provides amazingly sharp images while the Ambilight technology improves the perceived picture quality and creates a more immersive viewing experience.'
