Panasonic 36-inch HDTV-ready TV



This Panasonic 36-inch HDTV-ready TV, the CT-36HX42, is a CRT unit which uses Panasonic's PureFlat picture tube to enhance contrast while reducing glare and reflections.

The CX-36HX42 is capable of displaying both 1080i HDTV signals from either a satellite or cable set-top box. It also supports EDTV (480p) signals from progressive scan DVD players.

This Panasonic 36-inch HDTV ready TV's Progressive Cinema Scan is Panasonic's name for 3/2 pulldown. This eliminates the distortion caused when 24 frames per second movies are transferred to 30 frames per second video. Other features include split-screen picture-in-picture which allows you to view to images at once, with the screen split down the middle.

There are also a range of features designed to improve the quality of the image on this Panasonic 36-inch HDTV-ready TV. The color rainbow effect often seen in closely spaced patterns are dealt with by a 'motion-adaptive 3D-Y/C digital comb filter which compensates for the motion that occurs between fields and displays bright colors and action scenes.

The 10-bit, 60MHz analog-to-digital image processing provides 1024 shades of gray rather than the usual 256. The black and white portions of the image are sped up and slowed down, which makes for sharp black-to-white transitions.

The CT-36HX42 has 8 video inputs; 1 component, 4 composite, and three S-video. There is one composite video output. There are four stereo analog inputs and two outputs, The stereo speakers are rated at 15 Watts per channel.
