The Mitsubishi HDTV HD6000 box is an HDTV receiver and personal video recorder in one box. The unit features a CableCard slot for cable transmission and has a 120GB hard drive for recording. The 120GB hard drive will hold several hours of high definition content.
The inclusion of a CableCard slot means cable HDTV subscribers can access the content from their cable provider without the need for an additional set-top box, providing their cable company supports CableCard.
The Mitsubishi HDTV HD6000 also has the company's second generation Multimedia Video Processor, an all-format ATSC digital receiver, and an analog NTSC tuner. It also includes Mitsubishi's NetCommand 4 system control, its PerfectColor 6-way color adjustment, and an on-screen electronic program guide.
The Mitsubishi HD6000 hdtv box has multiple inputs; HDMI, 2 x composite, 2 x S-Video, and three component video. Outputs include HDMI, composite, S-Video, and component video. There are also two FireWire ports for home networking.
At the time of its launch in 2004, Max Wasinger, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, said 'HD-6000 owners now have the best of all worlds. They can operate an entire network of analog and digital devices, view and record images in any format, and record their favorite shows in high definition while watching other programming. And because the PVR is part of the tuner, there's no sorting through screens and boxes or changing remotes. What's more, they can record up to 12 hours of high definition of programming, and up to 72 hours of non-HD shows, without having to pay a PVR subscription fee.'
The Mitsubishi HDTV 6000 started shipping in late 2004 and is available from selected retailers across the USA.
